WELCOME TO OLYMPIA

Notice & News

In the spring of 2005, Seo-cheol, the Kolon Oil Painting Division, welcomed Benau Technical Director of the IAAF Secretariat at the Incheon Munhak Stadium Athletics Track in the spring of 2005. Seo was the general manager of the Literature Stadium Athletics Track in Kolon, Korea, for six months. Director Benoit scouted the track for over three hours and said it was "perfect." The Literature Stadium, which was inspected by the IAAF shortly thereafter, was granted Class 1 (IAAF's highest grade track track grade) certification three months later.

The 'Class 1' grade track on the track was the only one in Korea, with the exception of Busan, which was built by a German company. If you do not get a 'Class 1' rating, you will not be recognized as an international record, so a 'Class 1' qualification is essential to attract international competition.

To get a 'Class 1' rating, you must first review the track material, pass it back after construction, and pass it. Kolon's construction of two "Class 1" grade track tracks, which are more than 30 locations worldwide, is due to Kolon's worldwide recognition of the quality of its polyurethane products. The polyurethane used as a material for the track of the track is often referred to as the floor surface which appears red in the stadium. It creates 'optimal conditions' for improvement of the record of the athlete such as shock absorption, slip prevention.

Seo, who joined Kolon in 1984, has been in charge of land track construction for 23 years, saying, "Even if you broadcast soccer on TV, you can only see red land tracks instead of grass fields." "The total area of 400m of land track corresponds to about 7000m2. In order to obtain international certification, more than 95% of the total area must be of the same thickness (13 mm, 16 mm 2), and the tolerance of the total length is only 1 / 10,000th. " It's a story. "In order to reduce the track length error (1 / 10,000th), we will go to the actual side considering the outside temperature," said Seo. "In the hot summer, we will work at dawn because the 100m long tape measure itself increases."

Kolon's track-and-field business, which has annual sales of several hundred billion won, is not an attractive business in terms of profitability. However, Lee Dong-chan, honorary chairman of KOLON, is continuing his business by saying, "Reduce corporate profit through social sports support."

These two people, who are playing the role of 'two-headed wagon' in Kolon's track and field business, are aiming for Kolon's re-construction of the World Track and Field Championship in Daegu in 2011. The stadium was laid by Kolon in 2003 and received international accreditation, but it is likely to renew the track ahead of the 2011 World Championship in about a year or two. "We want to lay a track on our technology as it is the first world athletics competition in Korea." Kolon's track and field business is already expanding into Southeast Asia, including Thailand.
